This is the prototyper's best friend, the break-away header. This is a single row, 40 pin header. The pins are spaced 0.1" apart, which is perfect for fitting into breadboards, "perfboards", and connecting jumper wires and cables. It's always good to have some of these available, you never know when you are going to need them.

You can break it apart to size to your needs carefully by hand or with a pair of pliers.
