To say that the Arduino is a powerful player in the Maker movement would be an understatement at best. The Arduino family of developer boards are one of the easiest ways to get started in embedded development for beginners.

This is an Arduino UNO, it is very similar in capabilities to the Arduino Leonardo.

Key Differences with the Arduino Leonardo

• The UNO relies on a separate chip for USB functionality. This means it cannot do some of the more advanced USB tricks that the Leonardo can do, like as as a keyboard or mouse.
• The UNO has a little bit more available program space, because it has a smaller bootloader. The Leo has 28 KB of flash to spare, verses the 31.5 KB available to the UNO.
• The UNO has slightly less RAM than the Leonardo, with 2 KB, and 2.5 KB, respectively.
• This version of the UNO has a replaceable CPU. The ATMega328p is a "DIP28" form-factor microcontroller. What this means is that you can use the UNO as a prototyping platform. Once you have the final program, you can place the microcontroller in your own circuit. You can replace the chip with a fresh ATMega328p for your next project. (Note, you need to make sure the "fresh" ATMega328 you has an Ardiuno bootloader installed, a pure blank chip will not work unless you have an AVR ISP device. We hope to sell pre-programmed appropriate chips eventually.)
• The UNO has fewer I/O lines than the Leonardo.
